Heavenly Father,
You are the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father. Please give us the Spirit of wisdom and revelation so that we may know You better. Enlighten the eyes of our hearts in order that we may know the hope to which You have called us, the riches of Your glorious inheritance in the saints and Your incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of Your mighty strength, which You exerted in Christ when You raised Him from the dead and seated Him at Your right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And You placed all things under His feet and appointed Him to be head over everything for the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills everything in every way.
For this reason we kneel before You Father, from whom Your whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. We pray that out of Your glorious riches You strengthen us with power through Your Spirit in our inner being, so that Christ may dwell in our hearts through faith. And we pray that we, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that we may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
Now to You who are able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to Your power that is at work within us, to You be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

John Derbyshire praises Saturday Night Fever to the skies. He is the completest curmudgeon, the consummate contrarian. No one else can do that. I am in awe.

Gracious Heavenly Father,
You are good beyond our knowing or telling. Your goodness is as far beyond our understanding as Your power—the power that created the universe and history and our own selves. But You have made us know You. You sent Your Son Jesus to bear our sins. You sent Your Spirit to convict us of sin and make us seek Your mercy. And when we sought You, You poured out Your mercy on us and restored us to fellowship with You. We know You now Father. You make us see through a glass darkly but You make us see enough to love You. You are good Father, beyond our knowing.
Thank You for this great salvation. Please bring all Your holy will to pass. Please honor Jesus’ promise to be wherever two or three gather in His name. Please honor His promise to give whatever we ask in His name. Please make us worship You in Spirit and truth.
Amen.

Our Father,
You are a consuming fire who no man can see and live, yet You call us into Your presence. You lead us through the only way anyone can approach You without being destroyed, through the body and blood of Your Son Jesus Christ. He makes us clean before You and saves us from Your just wrath. He took the destruction we deserve and gives us true life.
Thank You Father! Thank You for this great salvation. Thank You for putting Your Spirit in us and making us believe You.
Please make us humbly hear Your word and make it take root in our lives and grow and bear much fruit for Your glory. Make us love You with all that is in us and love each other and all our neighbors, particularly those who hate us. Make us trust Your love in all our hardships. Make us see Your hand and rejoice.
Make us see You Father for You Yourself are the supreme good, the blessing above all others. You delight to bless Father; you give Your Spirit abundantly. Unite us to Yourself Father, In Jesus’ name.
Amen.

I’m not at liberty to say exactly what this is but it’s the kind of thing I spend most of my time doing. I love it.

Our team was hunting around for a name last Summer which lead me into kind of a jag where I couldn’t stop thinking of new ones. It went on for weeks. We ended up as the Capitalist Pigs, which was not my favorite–I preferred Whackamatic. The following is my list of two or three hundred others offered in the hope that someone will find them amusing and maybe use one. (Continued)

How I wish I had heeded the warning (thanks Jeremy.) Desktop Tower Defense will waste your time and give you repetitive motion issues. Don’t play Boxhead More Rooms either. You have been warned.
