We were talking about the purpose of undergraduate education the other day so I thought I’d better dig these out. Part one, part two and part three.

You ain’t never seen nothing like this.

Gracious Heavenly Father,

            You are a consuming fire.  You dwell in unapproachable light.  No man can see Your face and live yet You call us into Your presence and we are not consumed.  You cover us in the death of Your Son Jesus.  You made Him bear Your hot anger that we earned and gave us His perfection and access to You.  You have blessed us beyond our understanding.  You have given us true life; Your life; You have given us Yourself.  Thank you!

            You were pleased to crush Jesus for our sins but You raised Him to life again and He now rules all things forever.  Every knee will bow to Him and acknowledge Your glory in Him.

            Please bless our worship this morning and make us please You.  Fill us with Your Holy Spirit and make Your word live and thrive in us.  Amen.

Ladies’ night is a problem?

Today’s liberals are trying to prove they can disallow on the grounds of secular virtue all those activities once disdained by religious virtue. Who says only the priest has the power to make you stop eating, smoking, imbibing and carousing? Nah, today’s professor can make your life just as shriveled, desiccated and joyless, and he can do it without troubling any deity to lend His Name to the cause. Look, padre, no hands!
